The Foundation in Arabic Language and Islamic Sciences is designed to prepare students for undergraduate studies in disciplines offered by the Faculty of Languages and the Faculty of Islamic Sciences. The programme emphasizes the development of students’ proficiency in the four key Arabic language skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. It also provides a comprehensive grounding in the fundamental principles and core teachings of Islam.

- Demonstrate competent use of the four foundational Arabic language skills — reading, writing, listening, and speaking — supported by a sound understanding of Arabic syntax and grammatical structures.
- Apply core Islamic principles and ethical values in personal, academic, and professional contexts, reflecting an internalized understanding of Islamic teachings.
- Exhibit a proactive attitude towards independent learning, personal growth, and academic advancement through sustained curiosity and reflective practice.
- Communicate effectively and respectfully across diverse social environments, demonstrating cultural awareness, empathy, and collaboration.
- Obtained a pass in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) with credits in at least five subjects, including Arabic Language; or
- Obtained a pass in the O-Level examination with grades of at least C in five subjects; or
- Other equivalent qualifications recognized by the Government of Malaysia.
Arabic Language Requirement
Candidates who wish to enroll into the programme with qualifications obtained through a non-Arabic medium of instruction must pass MEDIU’s Arabic Placement Test (MAPT) or an equivalent assessment.
